Top 3 Nebraska Summer Attractions: Henry Doorly Zoo

Regardless of your feelings about the Nebraska Tourism Commission's "Visit Nebraska. Visit Nice." campaign, there are plenty of summer adventures to be had in this lively state. We have compiled our TOP 3 Nebraska summer tourism picks that are MUST-DO'S for all ages in a 3 part series. Specifically, we have chosen Nebraska essentials that are senior friendly, as well as enjoyable for children, teenagers, and adults alike.

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo: This Omaha attraction boasts many accolades receiving awards for #1 Ranked Zoo by Trip Advisor, Top Zoo by Family Fun Magazine, World's Largest Desert Dome, America's Largest Indoor Rainforest, the list is endless. Here's what you need to know, show up early before the masses to get the best parking and enjoy the sights before the day heats up. The zoo is gigantic so be realistic about how much you will see in one day.

Our personal must-see's include the Lied  Jungle, the Desert Dome, the Scott Aquarium, and the Hubbard Orangutan Forest.  If you are traveling with seniors you should be aware that wheel chairs are available at the front entrance since there is plenty of walking required. Also, Nebraska summers can be steamy so be sure to cool off at the Scott Aquarium while walking under a shark tunnel or watching penguins plunge into ice water.

Stay tuned for our next two summer attractions in Nebraska!
