2015 White House Conference on Aging

The White House Conference on Aging was created as a forum for representatives of American seniors to discuss problems and solutions to those issues facing the elderly. The decennial conference is fast approaching in 2015. The 2015 White House Conference on Aging has a website that can be found here. Although, it has not been made clear if the conference will have a physical date and time such as the 2005 conference. Additionally, the budget is one-third the cost of the 2005 conference. It seems possible that the 2015 conference may only consist of a virtual forum.

As the baby boomers continue to age into retirement years the problems arising under Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security loom at large. However, some pessimistic sources predict that the conference will only serve as a partisan platform for rallying around the Affordable Care Act and scratching the surface of safe issues. Furthermore, they say that "A conference about everything is a conference about nothing".

Adversely, we find that the White House Conference on Aging was designed to be focused on the most important issues affecting seniors currently or in the near future. The conference is meant to be adaptable by design so that it may suit the evolving needs of seniors.  Identifiable elder issues in the United States demand bipartisan discussion and solutions.  In addition to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security; Nebraska seniors currently face issues of transportation, fraud, and abuse.

We encourage you to contact your U.S. House Representative, U.S. Senators, and Governor with specific senior issues that have affected you or your loved one that you would like to be addressed at the 2015 White House Conference on Aging.
