Nebraska has finally passed a bill to create an Office of Public Guardian. Almost every other state has already established this essential office. The office will provide volunteer guardians with education, training, and support throughout Nebraska. Public Guardians will only be used in cases when family nor another individual are unavailable to act as guardian over a senior or another who cannot manage their own health or financial affairs. Find more information here.

If you are concerned about the possibility of needing a guardian, do not worry. It is easy to designate a chosen guardian or conservator in your will. People often choose their children or a close family friend for this duty. Our office recommends that you choose someone who is trustworthy, reliable, and financially savvy. Most of all, we recommend someone with your best interest in mind.
