Nebraska Investigates: Medicaid System 'Largely a Failure'



A special legislative committee was tasked with investigating numerous complaints regarding Nebraska's public benefits system (AccessNebraska). A a full report, followed by a press conference, revealed that the system is failing to meet the needs of susceptible Nebraskans in need of food stamps, heating and Medicaid. 

Nebraskans experienced long wait times, poor responsiveness, and limited accessibility. The committee found that the system lacks adequate funding, planning, and implementation. Senator Dubas said, "From a purely fiscal point of view, this is irresponsible, and from a human services focus, it is simply wrong."

Medicaid provides respite and long-term care for many seniors in Nebraska.
