NE Senators Override Veto: Medicaid Grant to Keep Seniors at Home



Nebraska lawmakers made a bold move last Friday when they overrode Governor Heineman's veto to pass a bill targeted at keeping seniors in their homes longer rather than nursing homes. An expected increase in senior Nebraskans pushed state senators to seek a sound financial solution. The grant is expected to ultimately save the state money by taking advantage of federal funding. Senator Kate Bolz introduced the original bill that  directed the state to apply for federal grant money to assist seniors in living in their homes.
